KOLKATA MEET - Rajat Mazumder

2/11 is a historic day for the TMF. This is the day when all the chapters

in India first started jointly the signature campaign to show solidarity
with Novartis as per initiative of Amma.

First regional Kolkata Meet also held on 2/11 - 11th February,2007.
This Meet was significant in various ways. We are going to tell you in
stages, so that you don't have to read the MAHABHARATA in one go.
In the first part we will tell you how we got the shock of our life when
Amma told Neel to organize the Training and the Meet within 20 days , and
what followed.

In the second part we will tell you the details of the Volunteer Training on
10th February,2007.

In the third part we will tell you about the regional Meet on 2nd
February,2007.

So Friends of Max - please lend me your years , I have come to say few
words of our experience - not to praise ourselves.
Watch this page for a couple of days. I am sure you all are wise people who
learn from the mistakes of others. We only learnt from our own mistakes.

February 11th will never be the same again !!!

All of you have seen to that - let us pledge this day , THE SECOND SUNDAY OF
FEBRUARY , then to be our special day and on this day we will reach out to
say Thank You to ourselves, each other , our families, our friends , our
doctors, our colleagues , last but not the least to Novartis and TMF - We
have shown we can DO IT -Mobilise all our resources and be there for each
other .

Way to go FOM !!!!!!

In Calcutta , as the big meeting was underway with more than 250 bhadralok
in attendance coming from as far away as 600km away , we got calls from
Hyderabad , Bangalore , Mumbai , Chennai and Delhi saying "Hey , we are all
together here too!!!!" Awesome !!!!!

The highlight of this " mini Big Meet" in Calcutta was of course Dr R N
Ghosh 's valued presence - for almost two hours he answered questions - then
of course the signing of the 6x6 Banner made by Sujeesh by each and every
one present -and the indefatigable efforts of the core group in Calcutta -
Rajat da , Neel, Raju Bhaiyya, Gaurav, Naren , Capt. Biswas, Ranjana,
Professor Koner, Stuti, Sharbari, Subir and Sushmita and their daughter
Sangita , Tushar and his equally talented sister Tapashi , Tamal , I know I
am missing out names here .forgive me if so and add please .

In less than one month this team worked to have two well attended , back to
back meetings this weekend !!!

And with less than one week all of the other cites managed to match their
efforts and viola we have had the most amazing coming together since the
first Kumbh Mela !!!!!

We have re christened Rajat da as Shakespeare of Kolkota and he will send
the "Big Report" and I know we will get reports form everywhere else too.

Public Opinion

It is but natural that the legal battle, Novartis is fighting right now, should revolve around patent law, corporate responsibility & access to life saving drugs. But I think there is one more issue involved in it & that is , a corporate giant challenging the constitution of India. That is hurting people though there has been a history of law amendments.

Pack your bags and be there on 11th February at SUJATA SADAN, 7 HAZRA ROAD,
KOLKATA ( from 2.00 to 5.00 PM) to support our organisation and to show our
